Archeon hosts the annual Green Circle Bee Landscape meeting

Museumpark Archeon hosted the annual meeting of the Green Circle Bee Landscape. It was an inspiring day focused on biodiversity, collaboration, and Archeon's green development.

On Thursday, 9 July, Museumpark Archeon welcomed the annual meeting of the Green Circle Bee Landscape (Groene Cirkel Bijenlandschap). During this inspiring day, partners, volunteers, and professionals from across the province of South Holland came together to exchange knowledge and experiences on biodiversity and creating a bee-friendly environment.

The meeting focused on connection, inspiration, and collaboration. Provincial Executive Member Arno Bonte spoke about the ambitions for the coming years and the new opportunities created by the European LIFE PolliNature grant, which supports the development of bee landscapes across six Dutch provinces.

Archeon also contributed to the programme. Archaeological interpreter and volunteer Karin Kok explained how the museum park has developed over the past few years into one of the most bee-rich locations in the region. Thanks to the dedication of an enthusiastic group of volunteers, native planting, nature-friendly banks, and flower-rich gardens have been created, making the park not only a place of historical significance but also an ecologically valuable environment.

In addition to presentations, participants could take part in a variety of workshops. These included guided tours of the park, an excursion focusing on bees and hoverflies, a Bioblitz, and sessions on biodiversity monitoring and strengthening habitats for pollinators.

Museumpark Archeon looks back with pride on a successful gathering. The park demonstrates that cultural heritage and nature go hand in hand, and that collaboration makes an important contribution to a more biodiverse South Holland.

We would like to thank the Green Circle Bee Landscape for their trust and look back on an inspiring day filled with knowledge sharing, valuable encounters, and new ideas.
