Gambling and dices were in the Middle Ages banned in many cities, there were also heavy fines for possession of a dice. These dices of bones are therefore made ​​very small, so that they are easy to hide. In emergency cases, they can even be swallowed, which probably explains why they are sometimes found in medieval cesspits (in the toilet).
